Nacreous Clouds



These clouds have iridescent colours and are in a height more than ordinary iridescent clouds. They are seen in all parts except in Polar Regions and in winter at high latitudes, Scandinavia, Alaska, Northern Canada. Lower level iridescent clouds can be seen everywhere.





Nacreous clouds glow intensely in high elevation sunlight up to two hours after ground level sunset or before dawn. Their exceptionally brilliant iridescent colours are slow moving relative to other lower clouds. This makes them an instantly recognizable and memorable sight.
